On the second Friday of each month The Maltings plays host to Acoustic Fridays. The idea of the event is to have 8 bands/artists perform semi-acoustically. This could be anything from the whole band with a stripped-down drumkit to one man/woman with guitar. If you've seen MTV Unplugged shows then you'll get what we're all about.

Each act will perform 2-4 ORIGINAL songs. Every act we book is, in our opinion, excellent in its chosen genre, but equally there is space for new, young acts to come in and show what they're made of to new audiences. We are particularly keen on giving young local songwriters and their bands the chance to perform in this fantastic venue on a weekend night. We will also be booking the more established artists from the area and beyond, and there are many talented ones out there.

Doors open to the public at 7.45pm, and it costs £5 to get in. Music starts at 8.00pm and ends at 11pm due to the licence at The Maltings. Acoustic Fridays is held in the Cellar Bar, but under 18's are more than welcome. There is a wristband policy for getting served at the bar.

Many of these types of nights are 'open mic' nights, where people can just turn up and put their name down on a list to play. This is not one of those. There is no 'list', no 'show up and play' - we will be booking acts we really rate in order that people who come each month to Acoustic Fridays will know that they will see good quality and not some bloke strumming (badly) his version of "Hi Ho Silver Lining"! Every act will be performing their own original material, and every act we will have either seen play live before or heard their demo CD. So don't worry, there won't be anyone with a cymbal between their knees, a hideously out of tune guitar and a kazoo (well, maybe if you're lucky!)

We are grateful to The Maltings for allowing us the opportunity to bring live music to you on a Friday evening. There is little chance to see quality live music in Farnham, and hopefully this will help fill the gap and give you all something different to do one Friday a month. See you soon... 

LOOKING FOR ACTS: We are always on the look-out for quality bands and solo artists from all over to come and play, and also young acts from the Farnham area who we are hoping to give opportunities to. If you are interested in playing please contact us and we will give you an address for demos and discuss the matter further with you. To clarify, we're not really interested in quiet, folksy solo artists. Although it is an acoustic style night, we want acts who are able to hold the attention an audience of 150-200. It is more MTV Unplugged than open-mic, and with the inimitable Jim Bowes often compering it is also a good party.

ALL AGES POLICY: There will obviously be a bar at Acoustic Fridays but we are also keen for under 18's to be able to watch and also play at the events. We will therefore be employing a wristband system to get served at the bar. If you are near (or look near) the age of 18, and you want to get served, please do bring ID. If you are under 16 you need to be accompanied by an adult.
